The Sutton edition of Judith Kroll's Chapters in a Mythology: The poetry of Sylvia Plath is now available in bookstores in the US, and through internet sites such as Amazon.com. The book retails for $14.95, but is available through Amazon.com for only $8.97 (price checked 9 January 2008). The new edition features a expanded and updated Foreword by Kroll.

Sutton Publishing of Stroud, Gloucestershire, is issuing Judith Kroll's Chapters in a mythology: The poetry of Sylvia Plath in its first UK edition. This edition includes a new, long Foreword by Kroll. Word on the street is that Sutton is trying to have the book available at the Sylvia Plath 75th Year Symposium; so in addition to your well-read US copies, be on the lookout for this item. There is space on my bookshelf for it, how about you? Sutton also published Lynda K. Bundzten's eye-opening work, The Other Ariel (2003) and Ronald Hayman *%^$&#* biography, The death and life of Sylvia Plath (2005).

Sylvia Plath wrote her senior thesis on Dostoyevsky called The magic mirror: A study of the double in two of Dostoevsky's novels . It was printed in a limited edition of 226 numbered copies by Embers Handpress, Rhiwargor, Llanwddyn, Powys, in 1989. Smith College holds the original as part of their Sylvia Plath Collection. Indiana University also holds some related materials including notes and note cards for the work. Sylvia Plath has also been the subject of well over a hundred theses and dissertations. I have been working on compiling a bibliography of these, mostly dissertations through a source I have via my graduate program. I will post it to this blog in the next few days I hope.
