In celebration of Sylvia Plath's 75th birthday, Smith College will host a one-day Symposium on Saturday 26 April 2008 in honor of the poet through both academic study of her work and celebration of her life.
The day will feature morning and afternoon panels with each speaker limited to a twenty minute talk followed by questions. In the evening, family and friends of Sylvia Plath will each read a letter from Plath and reflect on it before taking questions.
This event will be free and open to the public. Stay tuned for more information...

Peter, it is Kristina from Macedonia. Do you know whether it will be interdisciplinary, similar to the one in Oxford, or just speeches? Thanks
ReplyDeleteKristina,
ReplyDeleteI will find out. I believe it is just people from the New England area that participated in Oxford reading their same papers at Smith.
Cheers
Peter
Ok, I see. Don't bother then. I thought it is somehow related to the event that I have been told efforts are made to occur in the California Bay Area at some point this year, where I would like to exhibit a big painting on a Plath poem.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I have not forgotten to photograph and send you the book cover of the Macedonian translation of The Bell Jar. I am still trying to get some of my friends come to a bookshop with me and take a picture of it 'cause I don't have a camera. :-)
