If you are in Chicago, or near Chicago, you may be interested in the following event sponsored by Columbia College, Chicago. If you have frequent flyer miles, I'd suggest redeeming them for this event.
Karen Kukil will give a talk, “Sylvia Plath's Women and Poetry”, on Wednesday, October 21, 5:30 p.m. at the Music Center Concert Hall,1014 South Michigan Avenue. Click hither for more information.
If anyone sees Eddie Cohen, can you please give him my number?

Yeah, or Richard Sassoon! Has he ever been heard from that you know of?
ReplyDeleteGeorge,
ReplyDeleteRichard Sassoon is living in Colorado now; I think in or near Boulder. A couple of years back he "resurfaced" through a woman called Karen Peace. There were some posts on the SP Forum about him, and at that time, he gave some creative writing and artwork to the Lilly Library at IU, Bloomington.
pks
Damn! I'm going to be in Chicago in a couple of weeks, but not October 21. Its all in the timing...
ReplyDeleteI just talked with Karen, Richard is fine. I'll have to ask her about the Lilly donation - not sure if that happened yet or not
I no longer go to school in Chicago, so it's a pity that this event should be held just as I left the city. Otherwise, I would have attended and given an account of how Kukil's lecture went.
ReplyDeleteAre there any recaps (for lack of a better word) of Karen Kukil's lecture sitting around online or will I have to travel back in time and attend the event myself?
Ed Cohen died in January 2008
ReplyDeleteRichard died in 2017.
ReplyDeleteYou can see his obituary here: http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/dailycamera/obituary.aspx?n=richard-sassoon&pid=186113607&fhid=672
I collected some of his writing for the Lilly Library at Indiana University some years ago. He was Sylvia Plath's lover way back. I tried to find where his items are in the Lilly library system, but haven't located them -- I have sent an email to them to see if they can point me to them.
Best,
Karen Peace
